Overview

LocShare MAT is a plug-in forMultilingual App Toolkit v4.0 Beta (MAT).  This plug-in is a simple tool that creates and manages Translation Memory(TM) that is consumed by MAT locally. “LocShare MAT” is consisted of Local Translation Memory Tool and Local Translation Provider. It mainly focuses on 3 areas as follows:

NOTE: LocShare MAT follows Microsoft Private Policy strictly and doesn’t collect your data.

Local Translation Memory Database

If you are a MAT user who wants to own a private TM that can be recycled accurately and safely, this tool can help you build up and maintain such a TM database locally. You can simply create the database by importing your localized and proofed MAT based XLIFF files throughLocal Translation Memory Tool. The import process will only accept translation marked as Final (or signed off – v3.1 only state).  Once imported, the translation can be searched via theSearch TM tab in the Tool’s UI.

Translation Memory leverage in runtime

The Local Translation Provider allows access to the Local TM via a MAT based translation provider.  This enables the Editor as well as the Visual Studio (VS) integration to retrieve exact match translation.  The Provider is installed as the preferred provider. It allows the local TM to have the first preference.

After installation of LocShare MAT, you will see tools icons showing on “Translate” and “Suggest” inMultilingual Editor menu when you launch it.

Before:

Then:

You can just click them to call your local TM. Your will see the TM will always come first once exact matches are found (as showing below).Local Translation Provider is the indicator of your local TM.

Local Translation Memory sharing

Although the local TM is stored in your machine locally, you can always allow it to be shared within small groups or organizations. LocShare follows TAUS Translation Service API standard and enables the data invoke via http protocol, e.g.  You can modify key parameters highlighted below:

http://localhost:12222/translate?sourceLanguage=en-US&targetLanguage=ja-JP&source=overvie

Or you can connect the local TMs in other machines after configuringAddress and Port. Vice versa, the other machines with LocShare MAT installed can visit your local TM through this remote access.

NOTE:LocShare MAT doesn’t open the port through firewall during the installation. To make the local TM in a certain machine reachable remotely, you need to make sure that the certain port’s inbound rule is allowed from the firewall in that machine.
