vMerge for Visual Studio 2022 and 2026

vMerge is a Visual Studio extension for merging TFVC changesets. It is designed for bulk merges, helping keep selected changesets separate when several merges are prepared at the same time. It also supports configurable, automatically generated check-in comments.

Compatibility

  • Visual Studio 2022 (17.x)
  • Visual Studio 2026 (18.x)
  • TFVC / Team Foundation Version Control

Visual Studio 2019 is not supported by this release.

Getting started

After installing the VSIX, open the extension from Tools → vMerge → Show Changeset view.

  1. Select the source and target branches.
  2. Filter and select the changesets to merge.
  3. Choose Perform merge.
  4. Review the merge dialog and complete the merge.

Build

Open vMerge.sln in Visual Studio 2022 or Visual Studio 2026 with the Visual Studio SDK installed. Build the vMerge project using the Release | x86 configuration. The VSIX package is produced under vMerge\bin\x86\Release\vMerge.vsix.

Origin and license

The original vMerge extension was created by Alexander Berthold for earlier Visual Studio versions. This repository contains the maintained adaptation for Visual Studio 2022 and 2026. The original license notice is retained in LICENSE.
