Microsoft Flow helps automate almost any task or process. Whether it's a complex multistep process or a simple task, flows work in the background to boost your team's productivity and performance.

The Visual Studio Team Services connector for Microsoft Flow helps you automate tasks or processes related to your Visual Studio Team Services project. You can track and create builds, work items, and more. Use the Visual Studio Team Services flow templates to get started quickly.

Before you start, you’ll need:

  • Access to a Visual Studio Team Services account with permission to collect the data using the REST API.

  • Permission granted to the “Microsoft Flow and PowerApps” application during initial connection

For more details on Flow, please see our guided learning.

Getting Started

It's easy to use your Visual Studio Team Services account in Microsoft Flow.

  1. Sign up or log in to Microsoft Flow

  2. Navigate to Services > Visual Studio Team Services and select one of the templates to get started quickly, or choose My Flows > "Create From Blank" to start from scratch.

  3. On any of the Visual Studio Team Services triggers or actions, select "Sign In" and follow the prompts to connect your Visual Studio Team Services account to Flow.

  4. Customize the triggers and actions for your scenario, then click save to initiate your work flow.

Known Issues

We're always working to improve the connector, if you have any suggestions please add them to our ideas forum.

  • Custom fields are not currently supported for work items. If your work items have required custom fields you have may issues creating work items.
  • Only one assignee can be specified in the trigger "when a work item is assigned". If you'd like to trigger on multiple cases, a workaround is to create multiple flows.

Troubleshooting

If you hit an error message when trying to list the projects in your Visual Studio Team Services account, please confirm with your Visual Studio Team Services admin that you have access to the account and that the account supports OAuth.
