This widget allows teams to embed PowerBI.com reports on Visual Studio Team Services team dashboards. The following objects can be embedded from Power BI:
Embedding a dashboardTo embed a dashboard it has to be shared with the team or access given to the team members. Review Granting access to reports article to configure this access correctly. Once access is granted, open widget configuration and select your group/team and then a dashboard to embed. Embedding a reportTo embed a report, you have to be part of the team that owns the report. Simply select the group/team and select the report you want to embed. Note that your team members also have to be part of the owning team, as there's no other way to share a report with them. Note that separate report tiles and pages are not embeddable, only dashboard tiles are. See below. Embedding a tileShare* the dashboard via PowerBI Share functionality: Pin** a tile to the dashboard. Finally, open widget configuration and select group/team and then dashboard name. The tile names should show up in the Tiles dropdown. If you select an empty option, the whole dashboard is embedded. * You have to share the dashboard with at least one person/group for it to become visible - share it with yourself for example. If this is not done, tiles are not visible - the dashboard can still be embedded, but not separate tiles. ** You have to pin separate tiles from a report - if you use "Pin Live Page" it is not available for embedding. Do not use that kind of pinning if you want to later embed. AuthenticationThe widget uses standard Active Directory OAuth authentication and authorization methods. First time users of the widget (and widget configuration) are presented with following message when first time authorization is requested: Upon clicking the link, the authorization is requested and users should click Accept to allow widget to access their Power BI data. The authorization is given per-user, and each user will have to authorize the widget once. Note: User wishing to revoke the authorization at a later time should visit Active Directory Access Panel , locate the application and select Remove from context menu.
