PDB Finder is a Visual Studio 2022 extension that automatically finds the correct symbols for UE C++ minidumps. When you open a .dmp file, it reads the build identity (PDB GUID + Age) recorded in the dump, scans your network archive for the exact matching PDB — even when the file was renamed — and stages it into your local symbol cache, so the debugger loads symbols the moment you start debugging. It verifies matching builds by PE timestamp, image size, and PDB identity, detects post-link repackaged executables (and can patch a local copy so VS accepts the binary), and keeps everything transparent with progress indicators and build-source notifications. Just open a dump — the right symbols are found, cached, and loaded for you.

PDB Finder 是一个 Visual Studio 2022 扩展，用来自动为 UE C++ minidump 找到正确的符号文件。打开 .dmp 文件时，它读取 dump 里记录的构建标识（PDB GUID + Age），在网络共享归档中递归查找完全匹配的 PDB——即使文件名被改过也不受影响——并把 PDB 暂存到本机符号缓存，开始调试进入中断时自动完成符号加载。它按 PE 时间戳、映像大小和 PDB 标识校验构建，能识别链接后被重打包的 EXE（并可在本地生成修补副本让 VS 接受二进制），匹配来源、复制进度、加载结果全程都有明确提示。打开 dump，剩下的交给它。
Configuration
In Visual Studio, go to Tools → Options → PDB Finder.
Under Shared root directories, add one network archive root per line — use Add to paste a UNC path, or Browse… to pick it. Multiple roots are supported; every root is scanned, and one unreachable root never blocks the others.
Example: \\your-server\PackageBackup\windows — the archive layout <root>\<channel>\execute\<build>\ (each build directory containing its EXE + PDB) is detected automatically.
Keep Match dumps automatically checked so matching starts as soon as a .dmp opens.
Use Test Connection to verify the roots are reachable, and Rebuild Index after the archive layout changes.
That's it — open a minidump and PDB Finder shows the matched build in an info bar, copies the PDB into your VS symbol cache (first time per build only), and loads symbols automatically when you start debugging. If no root is configured yet, it will point you to the options page.
配置方法
在 Visual Studio 中打开 工具 → 选项 → PDB Finder。
在 共享根目录 列表里一行一个地址——添加 直接粘贴 UNC 路径，或点 浏览… 选择。支持多个根目录：每个都会扫描，单个目录不可访问不影响其他。
地址示例：\\服务器\PackageBackup\windows——自动识别 <根目录>\<频道>\execute\<构建>\ 的归档结构（构建目录内含 EXE + PDB 即可）。
保持 打开 .dmp 时自动匹配 勾选，打开 dump 即自动开始匹配。
用 测试连接 确认地址可达；归档目录结构变化后点 重建索引。
配置一次即可——之后打开 minidump，PDB Finder 会在提示条里显示匹配到的构建来源，把 PDB 复制进 VS 符号缓存（每个构建只复制一次），开始调试时自动加载符号。还没配置地址时打开 dump，它会主动引导你到设置页。
