ExecutiveLenz

One-page executive status reports, built and presented inside Azure DevOps.

A status pack is written once a period and looked at all week — in a steering committee, on a projector, and on paper. ExecutiveLenz puts a whole reporting period on a single A4 sheet, drawn from the work items your team is already tracking, and presents and prints it as exactly the geometry it was authored in.

No exports. No copying figures into slides the morning of the meeting. The pack lives in the project it reports on.

What you get

A page, not a dashboard. Eleven block types on a twelve-column grid: RAG assessments, commentary, metrics, progress bars, risks, milestones, checklists, work item lists, charts, burndowns and images. Drag, resize, and the page stays a page.

Live figures from your own saved queries. Any block that carries a number can derive it instead of having it typed:

  • Metrics — count, sum, average, min or max over a saved query
  • Progress — split by the state of the work, or by a field value you nominate as "done"
  • Charts — one query, one series per question, each with its own filter (State is Done)
  • Checklists — one line per work item, its state read from the board
  • Milestones — one per work item, dated by whichever field your process uses, and anything past its date and unfinished shown late
  • Work item lists — a saved query with the columns you choose from it

Opening a report re-runs everything, so what is on screen is what is true now.

Snapshots. Freeze a report under a name — "SteerCo June 2026" — and it keeps saying what it said on the day, queries and all, however the data moves afterwards. A record you can table without having to explain why the numbers have changed since.

Presenting and printing. Fit to window, zoom, ring a block, highlight, annotate, or enlarge any block to fill the screen. Print gives true A4 landscape, identical to the page you edited.

Ten templates to start from — project status, release status, go/no-go, steering committee, programme control board and more — or a blank sheet.

How it works

The extension adds a hub under Boards. Reports are stored in your own Azure DevOps project using the extension data service: the project's reports are the project's, and starred reports are yours alone. Work item data is read with your own credentials, through the same permissions you already have — nothing is copied out of your organisation, and nothing is sent to us.

It asks for three permissions and no more: read work items, read project information, and read and write its own extension data. It never writes to a work item.

Getting started

  1. Install into your Azure DevOps organisation.
  2. Open Boards → ExecutiveLenz and create a report from a template.
  3. Point a block at one of your saved queries, or type your figures by hand.
  4. Present it, print it, or freeze it for the meeting.
