Microsoft designers probably think that Visual Studio 2012 is the nicest version of Visual Studio ever. For those who think that it is the ugliest version of Visual Studio here is the extension with goal to replace all ugly icons in Visual Studio with nice ones. This beta version replaces icons in toolbars and on Start page and few more.
