REQUIREMENTS

This extension depends upon CrmAdo, which should be installed first. You can find the installer for that here:CrmAdo

For the latest documentation, see the GitHub wiki: https://github.com/dazinator/CrmAdo/wiki/Visual-Studio-Extension---Getting-Started

Getting Started

You can add a connection to a Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 or 2013 instance, via Server Explorer.

  1. Go to Server Explorer --> Add Connection.
  2. Select the "CrmAdo" provider as the Data Source.
  3. Enter in your CRM connection string details. The quickest / easiest way to enter the connection details is to paste a valid Crm Connection string into the "connection string" field as this will populate everything else. For examples of CRM connection strings see: Simplified connection to Microsoft Dynamics CRM

 4. The new connection will then appear under Server Explorer's "Data Connections" node. You can then Expand it to see entities and attributes:

 5. You can also see the plugin assemblies:

 6. Clicking on an Entity / Attribute / Plugin node in server explorer will show you all of the related CRM metadata in the Properties window. Hit F4 to bring up the properties window if it isn't already open. For example selecting the "annotation" entity will show:
