SQLWire

SQLWire SQL workbench

SQLWire is a focused SQL Server workbench inside Visual Studio. Write and run T-SQL, load database metadata for IntelliSense, debug stored procedures, and export result sets to XLSX without moving between development tools.

Try every feature free for three days. Continued use requires a signed perpetual licence, which can be imported from the Licence button in the workbench.

What it does

  • Executes T-SQL against SQL Server with a configurable result-row limit.
  • Loads tables, views, functions, procedures, and columns on demand with Get Schema.
  • Provides local SQL IntelliSense from the loaded schema.
  • Starts a Visual Studio SQL debugging session and supports Step Into, Step Over, and Stop.
  • Saves convenient server/database connection profiles in local browser storage.
  • Exports query result sets directly to an .xlsx workbook.
  • Uses Windows authentication for database connections.

Quick start

  1. Install SQLWire and restart Visual Studio if prompted.
  2. Choose Tools > SQLWire: Copy Workbench Pairing Link, then paste the copied address into a local or LAN browser.
  3. Enter the SQL Server and database names.
  4. Select Get Schema to enable schema-aware IntelliSense.
  5. Write a query, then select Execute or Debug.

Requirements

  • Visual Studio 2022 or later on 64-bit Windows.
  • .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later.
  • A reachable SQL Server database and a Windows account authorized to use it.
  • SQL debugging also depends on the target SQL Server and Visual Studio debugging configuration.

Data and safety

SQLWire runs queries with your Windows identity. Review SQL before executing it, use least-privilege database permissions, and maintain tested backups. The extension contains no advertising, analytics, telemetry, AI, RAG, or external model service.

See the included Privacy Notice and End User Licence Agreement for details.

Pricing and support

SQLWire includes a three-day full-feature trial. A single-user perpetual licence is available for a US$50 one-time payment from the official SQLWire website. The licence works offline after import.
