Comment Express was written to provide a way of combining documentation and code into a single document. In the past, documentation was kept separately. Often, because of this, the documentation was poorly maintained, or even not maintained at all. Code comments have proven to be very limiting in its ability to express ideas. Comment Express provides the ability to keep the documentation alongside of the code where it is much more likely to be kept up to date with the code. Being that documentation is kept alongside the code, it also mean much less time spent looking up documentation about an area of code. The documentation is right there. At this point, Comment Express is an early release, with two tiers of features. The first tier is free and immediately usable after downloading the Comment Express extension. The next Basic tier adds more programmability, to provide more flexibility in formatting your text, as well as bitmap image display suuport. The Basic Tier is accessible at a low cost. Keys to open up these features are provided on the Oxolid Software website and emailed to you after your purchase. Future tiers will go a step further by providing more word-processor like editing with automatic word wrapping and even graphics. In the end, the top level tier will also feature live document support so your comments can do more than just convey static text. You will be able to include dynamic elements like dynamic calculations and graphics. Finally, all of these features will be tied into the debugger so that your live documents will be able to take input from runtime variables during debugging.
