Visual Studio Keyboard Bindings Editor Extension

** Important for new users**

I am in the process of properly packaging the extension to work with the Extension Manager within Visual Studio. In the meantime, you will need to manually execute the setup.exe file.

VS2012 users: After setup.exe has completed you will need to launch Visual Studio and go to Tools-->Options and from there go to Environment-->Add-in Security and manually add the following path in the existing Add-in File Paths:

C:\Program Files\KeyboardBindingsEditor

I have tried to exeute this step in my MSI but at the moment this only seems to work for VS2010.

** Important if you already installed**

If you have previously installed this extension you probably did not get the option to launch the editor under the Tools option in Visual Studio. This should now be resolved but before updating to v1.2 please manually uninstall the extension by going to Tools-->Extensions and Updates... and clicking on the Uninstall button. You can then install v1.2 by going to Tools-->Extensions and Updates... and searching for the extension or manually from this site.

About Extension

The Keyboard Bindings Editor extension for Visual Studio is an easy to use alternative to the existing Visual Studio editor under Tools-->Options...-->Environment-->Keyboard. It provides a more comprehensive interface to filter and navigate to the command you wish to edit the bindings for, displays binding clashes and allows changes in batch.

v1.4

  • Localized command names are now displayed.
  • Added logging (check under installation folder: c:\Program Files\KeyboardBindingsEditor). Don't worry, there is a 10 file roll limit so you shouldn't get spammed!
  • Added registry keys for add-in folder for x64 installations.

v1.3

  • Fixed bug where None key was always registered when trying to set command bindings.

v1.2

  • Assembly is now signed.
  • Switched deployment mode from VSIX to MSI.

v1.1

  • Added support for Visual Studio 2010.
  • Added a bit of tracing.

v1.0

Initial Release

  • You can only edit the current keyboard scheme as set under the Keyboard settings.
  • You can set the scope, modifier keys and key for each binding separately.
  • You can view conflicts by clicking a binding.
  • A number of options are available to filter the commands in view.
