Overview Q & A Rating & Review
Codinex AI
A provider-agnostic AI coding assistant for Visual Studio. Bring your own model, cloud or fully local, and keep control of your AI stack.
Features
Any provider: OpenAI-compatible endpoints, Anthropic (Claude), Gemini, Ollama, and a built-in free OpenCode tier to try it without a key.
Agentic tools: read and search your solution, find references and symbols, edit multiple files, build, run tests, and read diagnostics.
Reviewed changesets: side-by-side diffs with per-change approve or reject. Nothing reaches your files until you approve it.
Solution-aware context: @ references for files, folders, classes, methods and more, powered by Roslyn, plus Git state and build output.
Persistent memory across sessions, and AI commit-message generation in the Git UI.
Theme-aware chat UI with Markdown, streaming, and RTL/Persian support.
Getting started
Open View → Other Windows → Codinex AI .
Add a provider and model in the settings, or pick the free OpenCode models.
Ask a question or describe a change, and review the proposed edits.
Requirements
Visual Studio 2022 (17.0+) or Visual Studio 2026, .NET Framework 4.7.2.
Known limitations
Models that only accept function tools through the OpenAI /v1/responses API (for example gpt-6.1-sol) are not supported yet.
