Wall Estimation

This extension empowers (distributed) teams to estimate their work items interactively. Wall Estimation provides a platform for discussing and estimating the effort of work items, even if not all team members are on-site: Just drag and drop a work item to the lane which displays its estimated effort. Changes are shown to all team members immediately, so they can react to it. This collaborative way allows getting faster and better results for the difficult process of effort estimation. Requirements

  • The extension can only be used with TFS 2015 Update 3 and higher if SSL communication is enabled
  • The work items you want to estimate are either in state 'proposed' for CMMI or 'new' and 'approved' for SCRUM/Agile template.
  • Make sure that each team member has enough user rights to edit work items.
  • To change the estimation scale, access to the team administration page is necessary.

Quick Steps

  1. Navigate to your backlog in VSTS, where the items to be estimated are located.
  2. Optional: To change the estimation scale (Exponential, Fibonacci, XS-XXL), go to the team administration page. The default is Exponential Scale.
  3. You can start the estimation by just hitting the 'Wall Estimation' hub.
  4. Everybody else can now join your estimation by dragging & dropping items to the appropriate lanes.
  5. Enjoy the discussion!
