Please download version v4.0 for all new projects. No new development is planned for v3.1. It will remain available for existing projects that still require v3.1. Moving to v4.0 for all project is strongly recommend.
Multilingual App Toolkit includes an extension for Visual Studio. This extension enables simpler translations by focusing on the following areas:
Integration with Visual Studio IDE lets you add and manage translation files within a project solution, by using standard Visual Studio menus and dialogs.
Pseudo language engine gives you ‘in house’ testing of localized apps by identifying localization issues during development. These issues can include hardcoded, concatenated, or truncated strings, and visual issues that arise when working with different languages. Pseudo translations are stored in the localization industry standard XLIFF file format, and you can edit them just like any other language translation. This gives you granular control over pseudo translation testing.
Microsoft Language Portal integration allows apps to look up terminology and user-interface translations from actual Microsoft products through the Microsoft Terminology Service API (requires internet connection).
Machine Translation integration provides suggestions via the integrated Microsoft Translator Service (requires active internet connection). Integration with the Microsoft Translator service allows for instant visualization and testing across multiple languages without the assistance of a human translator.
Translation file export & import roundtrip functionality allows you to send and receive resources in XLIFF files to individuals or a translator service.
Use the dedicated localization editor to easily edit translated strings. Get translation suggestions quickly by using the integrated Microsoft Translator (requires active Internet connection). The editor also allows you to quickly edit data stored in XLIFF files by adjusting pseudo and actual translations.
